Frequently asked questions
The 6 questions LATAM customers ask us most.
What is Dropea and how does it relate to Opita Drops?
Dropea is the model name: a LATAM dropshipping marketplace with verified US residential drops. Opita Drops is the operator running Dropea — currently in pilot operation with legal formalization in progress. The CMRA-registered locker is in Colorado Springs, CO — not Miami.
How does the marketplace work?
Pick a verified residential drop (4-tier scoring) → shop at a US retailer with your card using the drop address → upload the tracking number to the marketplace → anti-fraud AI validates in <60s → the drop receives and the Opita router picks up same-day → the Colorado Springs locker consolidates → Aeropost courier ships to your LATAM country.
How much does each shipment cost?
All-inclusive pricing: $8 Opita Drops fee + Aeropost courier with 15% markup over real cost. Average package: ~$22.71 USD total ($14.71 courier + $8 fee). Colombia from ~$19.50. FedEx/UPS Express: ~$60+ with quote by destination/weight. Destination-country import duties and taxes may apply.
How long does delivery take?
Colombia 7-14 days · Mexico 5-10 days · Peru, Brazil, Chile, Argentina 7-14 days. FedEx/UPS Express: 3-5 days. Timing includes 1-3 days of consolidation at the Colorado Springs locker + courier. Excludes retailer KYC time.
Is it legal? Isn't this reshipping fraud?
Yes. We operate in pilot stage with legal formalization in progress. The Colorado Springs locker is registered as CMRA with USPS (Form 1583A). Full KYC + OFAC sanctions screening pre-transfer. Anti-fraud AI validates every tracking number in <60s. We are NOT a "reshipping scam" (FTC Dec 2025 — see official consumer alert) — we run drop scoring + process-verifiable compliance.
How does USDC payment protect me?
USDC is issued by Circle (NY, USA), regulated, with monthly audited reserves. It's 1:1 with USD, no crypto volatility. Your payment is secure, transparent, verifiable on-chain on Base. Opita Drops pays the Base network gas, not you.
Why Colorado Springs and not Miami?
Three reasons: (1) lower operational overhead than Miami, which lets us offer better pricing; (2) Colorado has clear CMRA regulation and consistent enforcement; (3) Miami is saturated with reshipping scams — operating from Colorado explicitly separates us from those operators and makes us easier to verify.
How much do I pay in taxes in my country when receiving the package?
Each LATAM country charges its own import duties on the declared value of the package (typically 0% for books and medicine, 5-10% for clothing and electronics, up to 19% for some products in Colombia). These are paid to the local courier or customs at delivery — NOT to Opita Drops. We recommend declaring the real value to avoid customs issues.
Why are you in pilot and not yet a fully incorporated company?
We operate as a pilot today with our CMRA locker already registered in Colorado Springs, verified compliance team, and active on-chain treasury. Full legal formalization (US entity finalized + Colombian corporation + professional insurance) closes before general launch in Q4 2026. Operating as a pilot lets us iterate the product with real users before formal incorporation — but with serious compliance from day 1.
Do you have a whitepaper or technical documentation?
Yes — our whitepaper details the marketplace model (scored residential drops + CMRA locker + Aeropost courier), unit economics ($6.25 net spread per package), compliance framework (CMRA Form 1583A + KYC + OFAC + anti-fraud AI), and technical roadmap (smart contract escrow Q1 2027). It's a living document: we update it at every major milestone.
